1. Choose your images

Choose images
or drop images here

PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF or AVIF, at most 20 MB each, at most 20 images at a time. Nothing is uploaded. HEIC files cannot be read here — see the HEIC note below.

HEIC? Most browsers cannot read HEIC photos from iPhones. Change your iPhone to save JPG (Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible) or convert the HEIC first — see below.

2. Pick a format and a quality

Quality applies to JPG. Transparent areas become pure white (#FFFFFF), because JPG has no transparency.

Results — download

Your converted images will appear here, with the size before and after.

How it works — 3 steps

  1. 1. Drop your images
Choose up to 20 images, or drop them on the box above. They are read by your browser only.
  2. 2. Pick a format and a quality
JPG, PNG or WEBP, and a quality for JPG and WEBP. JPG turns transparent areas white; PNG and WEBP keep transparency.
  3. 3. Download one by one, or all as a ZIP
Every image shows its size before and after, and keeps its file name. Download one, or take the whole batch as one ZIP file.

Which format should I pick?

FormatTransparencyQualityBest for
JPGNo — transparent areas become white #FFFFFFLossy, set by the quality sliderPhotos, and anything that must open everywhere
PNGYes — kept exactlyLossless, quality slider does nothingLogos, screenshots, graphics with transparency
WEBPYes — keptLossy or lossless, set by the quality sliderThe web — about 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality

JPG for photos and anything that must open everywhere; PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with transparency that must stay lossless; WEBP for the web — about 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. An animated GIF keeps only its first frame when converted. Converting a JPG to PNG does not restore quality the JPG already lost.

HEIC photos from iPhones — read this first

Most browsers cannot read HEIC files. Only Safari on Apple devices opens them; Chrome, Firefox and Edge do not. That is why this tool refuses HEIC files in every browser, instead of working in one browser and failing silently in another.

  1. Stop making HEIC files (new photos): on your iPhone, go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you already took stay HEIC.
  2. Convert a HEIC you already have, on your iPhone: share the photo by email or message — the iPhone converts it to JPG when sharing to a device that cannot read HEIC.
  3. Convert a HEIC on a Mac: open it in Preview, then choose File → Export and pick JPEG.

Renaming a file from .heic to .jpg does not convert it — the file inside is still HEIC, and it still will not open. The photo itself has to be converted first, then dropped here as a JPG.

Frequently asked questions

1. Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser with canvas: the image is read, converted and downloaded on your device. You can check the browser network tab: there is no upload.

2. What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become pure white (#FFFFFF). If you want to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WEBP instead.

3. Why can’t I convert a HEIC here?

Most browsers — Chrome, Firefox and Edge — cannot read HEIC files; only Safari on Apple devices opens them. That is why this tool refuses HEIC in every browser. On your iPhone, go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible so new photos are saved as JPG. For a HEIC you already have, share it by email or message (the iPhone converts it to JPG when sharing) or open it in Preview on a Mac and choose File → Export as JPEG.

4. Will the size or quality of my image change?

The pixel size does not change: this tool only changes the format. JPG and WEBP lose a little quality according to the quality slider; PNG loses none. The file can come out smaller or bigger: a JPG saved as PNG almost always weighs more, and the page shows the difference for every image.

5. Can I use the converted images commercially?

Yes. They are your images, and the tool adds no watermark and changes no licence. To make a brand-new image with AI or remove a background, use the Movapix app: about $0.008 per image.

Need a brand-new image instead?

This tool only converts what you already have. To make a brand-new product photo from one sentence, or remove a background, use the app — about $0.008 per image, credits never expire.
