UTM / ref link builder — Movapix

Build a posting link that already carries the right UTM (or the Product Hunt ref) before it is published — a link fixed later cannot fix copies that were already quoted. Paste a link below to check it too. Nothing here is posted or shared.

Build a link

Pick the brand and the channel, then the destination. Leave the destination blank for the app home, or paste a full page URL on the same brand domain.

Blank = the app home. A pasted URL must be on the selected brand domain and must not be the site root.

Blank = the channel default shown in grey. Spaces become hyphens.

Added as ref=, except on Product Hunt, where ref is always producthunt.

        Check a link

Paste any link and see, check by check, whether it is safe to post. A failed check is shown in red.

How to build a link worth posting

Build the link before you publish anything that quotes it. Once a post, a video description, or a directory listing is live, copies of the link start to spread, and fixing the original later does not fix the copies. A few minutes here saves a round of corrections later.

          1. Pick the brand first, then the channel, then the destination. The brand decides the domain, the channel decides the source and medium, and the destination decides which page the visitor lands on.
          2. Write the campaign name in plain, lowercase words joined by hyphens, and use the same campaign name for every post in one push. A campaign name that changes spelling from post to post will split one push into several reports that cannot be read together.
          3. Leave the destination blank only when the app home is really the right landing page. When a post talks about one tool or one guide, link to that page, so the visitor does not have to hunt for it after arriving.
          4. Run the checker on the finished link before you copy it. A failed check is cheaper to fix here than a broken or mislabelled link is after it has been quoted elsewhere.
          5. Keep a short note of where each link was posted, so you know which links are still live when a post is later edited or removed.

          One exception to remember

Product Hunt does not use UTM parameters: a Product Hunt link carries only the invite reference. Build that link with the Product Hunt channel and let the tool leave the UTM part out.
