Product video storyboard: plan a 15–30 second video from one photo

A product video is not one long clip; it is a few short scenes in the right order. This guide shows how many scenes 15 and 30 seconds need, gives you a ready storyboard template for beauty, home and fashion products, and the scene order that keeps your product looking identical from the first frame to the last.

How many scenes a 15-second storyboard needs and how long each lasts

A 15-second video holds 3 to 4 scenes, each lasting 4 to 5 seconds. That is short enough to keep a cold viewer watching to the end, which is exactly what TikTok, Reels and Shorts reward. Give the first 3 seconds to the hook, the middle 7 seconds to the proof, and the last 5 seconds to the close. If a scene cannot earn its 4 seconds, cut it: a 15-second video with 6 rushed scenes feels like an ad, while 3 confident scenes feel like a recommendation.

Scene length is a pacing decision, not a decoration. Fast cuts of 2 seconds create energy and suit fashion and gadgets; calm 5-second holds build trust and suit skincare, furniture and anything expensive. Never mix both rhythms in one 15-second video: pick one tempo and keep it, so the viewer feels one mood from hook to close.

A 30-second video holds 5 to 6 scenes of 4 to 6 seconds each, and it needs a small story: hook, problem, product reveal, two proof scenes, call to action. The extra time is not for extra scenes but for letting each scene breathe. If your product needs no story, a tight 15-second video will outperform a padded 30-second one every time.

A 30-second storyboard template for 3 product types: beauty, home, fashion

Beauty, 30 seconds: 0–3s, macro of the texture; 3–8s, dropper or pump close-up; 8–14s, application on skin; 14–20s, an honest before-and-after; 20–26s, packaging in a morning routine; 26–30s, the offer and call to action. The product never leaves the frame for more than a second, and the label is readable in at least two scenes.

Home, 30 seconds: 0–3s, the room wide shot; 3–8s, the product reveal as the camera moves closer; 8–14s, the detail that justifies the price; 14–20s, the product in real use; 20–26s, the scale cue that answers the size question; 26–30s, the offer and call to action. Furniture videos fail when the room is prettier than the product, so keep the product the brightest object in every scene.

Fashion, 30 seconds: 0–3s, movement, the garment in motion; 3–8s, the full look; 8–14s, the fabric detail that the thumbnail promised; 14–20s, a second angle or styling; 20–26s, the fit cue that answers the size question; 26–30s, the offer and call to action. One model, one lighting mood, one colour story: a fashion video is a lookbook, not a catalogue.

From storyboard to AI clips: the scene order that keeps the product consistent

Generate the scenes in storyboard order, and generate the hero scene first. The hero is the scene where the product is biggest and clearest, usually the product reveal. Approve it, then treat it as the visual anchor: every later scene is compared against it, never the other way around. If scene 4 drifts, regenerate scene 4, not scene 1.

Keep one locked product description and paste it verbatim into every clip prompt: product name, exact colour, material, logo placement, and the sentence keep exact colour, shape, logo and proportions unchanged. Change only the scene, the action and the camera between prompts. The moment you rephrase the product, the model reimagines it, and your serum bottle quietly becomes a different bottle.

Check consistency the cheap way: export a contact sheet of one frame per scene and look at them side by side. Colour, logo, proportions and packaging must match across all six. Viewers forgive a simple scene; they never forgive a product that changes shape halfway through the video.

Steps

  1. Write the one-line promise of the video: what the viewer will believe or buy after 30 seconds. Every scene must serve that line.
  2. Split the promise into scenes with timestamps: 3–4 scenes for 15 seconds, 5–6 for 30 seconds. Name the job of each scene: hook, proof, close.
  3. Write the locked product description once: name, exact colour, material, logo placement, plus the sentence forbidding any change. You will paste it into every prompt.
  4. Generate the hero scene first, the one where the product is biggest and clearest. Approve it fully before touching any other scene.
  5. Generate the remaining scenes in storyboard order, comparing each new clip against the hero frame. If a scene drifts, regenerate that scene, never the hero.
  6. Assemble the clips, add captions and the call to action, and export in 9:16. Watch once with the sound off: the product in the last frame must match the first.

Các bước

5 prompts you can paste into the app

Prompts stay in English: models follow English prompts most reliably. Paste the locked product description into each one, then change only the scene.

  • Close-up video of a glass serum bottle with dropper, amber liquid rising in the dropper, soft studio light, pure white background, slow motion, no text, keep exact bottle shape, label and amber colour unchanged.
  • Video of a beige fabric armchair slowly rotating 360 degrees in a bright living room, daylight from a window on the left, no people, no text, keep exact chair shape, fabric colour and wooden legs unchanged.
  • Fashion video of a model walking toward the camera wearing a black leather jacket, city street background softly blurred, natural daylight, no text, keep exact jacket shape, zipper and black colour unchanged.
  • Macro video of cream texture swirl in a glass jar, a spoon lifting the cream, clean white background, studio light, no text, keep exact jar shape and cream colour unchanged.
  • Product video of a ceramic table lamp turning on at dusk in a cosy bedroom, warm light glow, camera slowly pushing in, no people, no text, keep exact lamp shape, shade colour and base unchanged.

Prompt giữ nguyên tiếng Anh vì mô hình hiểu tiếng Anh ổn định nhất. Dán mô tả sản phẩm cố định vào từng prompt, rồi chỉ thay đổi bối cảnh.

Tips

  • Write the hook as the first 3 seconds of action, not as a title card. A title card is a skip signal.
  • Paste the locked product description into every prompt instead of retyping it. Retyping is how colour drift starts.
  • Generate the hardest scene first, the one with the product biggest. Easy scenes bend to match it, not the reverse.
  • Keep camera movement slow and simple. Fast moves hide the product and compress badly on mobile networks.

  • Dựng cảnh khó nhất trước, cảnh mà sản phẩm to nhất.

Common mistakes

  • Rewriting the product description between scenes. Even small rephrasing lets the model redesign your product.
  • Too many scenes: 8 scenes in 15 seconds means nothing is readable. Cut scenes before you cut seconds.
  • Generating the lifestyle scene first and letting the product drift. The hero anchors the video, so it goes first.
  • Baking text into the video. Platforms crop and recompress it; add captions and prices at edit time instead.

Frequently asked questions

How many scenes does a 15-second product video need?

Three to four scenes of 4–5 seconds each: a hook in the first 3 seconds, proof in the middle, and the close at the end. Fewer, confident scenes beat more, rushed ones.

How do I keep the product identical across AI clips?

Lock one product description and paste it verbatim into every prompt, generate the hero scene first, and compare every later scene against it. Regenerate the drifting scene, never the hero.

What does a 30-second AI product video cost?

Each clip is charged per use and only on success, with no subscription. A full 30-second video typically costs well under a dollar in credits, so testing two hooks is cheap.

Which ratio should I export the video in?

Export 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and keep the product and all text inside the safe centre area. Platforms crop the edges on some screens.
